Project Description

Overview

PSE&G Energy & Environmental Resource CenterPSE&G opened the EERC as an exciting learning center focused on building a greater understanding of energy, environmental challenges and strategies for balancing energy demand with environmental stewardship.  The facility is housed in the former Nuclear Training Center in Salem, NJ and promotes broad conversations around energy use and the complexities of climate change.  The EERC is a Gold-level LEED certified building designed and built with a consideration toward energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.  Over 20,000 square feet of the 65,000 square foot facility is dedicated to public use including interactive exhibits.  In alignment with the learning centers mission, PSE&G partnered with ECS Energy and GeoGenic LLC to install a solar array on the rooftop of the learning center.

Solution

ECS and GeoGenix installed a 74.725 kW SunPower array on the EERC rooftop.  The system utilized SunPower’s high efficiency modules and SunPower’s ballasted, non-penetrating racking system.

Benefits

Not only does the solar array generate clean, green energy that powers the learning center, but the array also represents a teaching opportunity for the general public to learn about solar energy and how it plays a vital role in PSE&G’s energy portfolio.
